As Chief People and Culture Officer, Andrea sets the goals, strategy, and priorities for, and manages the implementation of the human resources function to continue to build Teaching Lab as a learning and racial justice-focused organization where talented, mission- and values-aligned team members enjoy their work and continue to grow professionally.

Prior to joining Teaching Lab, Andrea served in senior leadership roles where she supported organizations by creating a positive employee experience that promoted commitment, engagement, and workforce effectiveness. Her leadership philosophy is to support the whole person throughout the employment journey; this includes empowering others and providing value added opportunities and resources for every employee.

Andrea is a proud graduate of North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University.  Her undergraduate degree is in Sociology.  She also has two master's degrees from Keller Graduate School of Management of Devry University in Human Resource Management and Business Administration. Additionally, Andrea is a certified senior Human Resources Professional through the HR Certification Institute and the Society for Human Resource Management.  She holds current professional membership with the Society for Human Resource Management.  As a lifelong learner, Andrea continues to increase her knowledge and education in the areas of racial equity, anti-racism, racial justice, diversity, inclusion, belonging, cultural competence, and civility and respect. Furthermore, Andrea has served as a pro bono HR consultant for a growing Black-owned non-profit organization that provides Black women with entrepreneurship education.

Andrea's first name is pronounced awn-dray-uh. Her favorite colors are crimson red and plum purple. She enjoys strength training, dancing, and cooking. Andrea's favorite inspirational quote is "Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." - Maya Angelou.
