Dr. Carol Redfield-Mims

Dr. Carol Redfield-Mims, a dedicated ELA/Math Consultant contracted with the Kirkland group, has made it her life's mission to champion educational equity. Her journey in education began with teaching 2nd grade, where she focused on all subjects. Over the years, Dr. Carol has served in various capacities, including as a contracted Math Coach with the Teaching Lab, a restorative justice practitioner with the Insitute for Democratic Education in America (IDEA), and fifteen years of experience in providing educational equity. Her professional path has offered her several rich experiences as a facilitator, adjunct professor, curriculum specialist, instructional coach, community organizer, and lesson plan creator for BetterLesson. Her most significant accomplishments are meeting students and teachers where they are in their learning and working with them to help cultivate their unique crafts.

Dr. Redfield-Mims, a lifelong learner and educator, holds a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Grand Canyon University, a master's degree in Reading Education, and an undergraduate degree in education K-6 from Jackson State University. She resides in Terry, MS. Her personal connection to her work is evident in her commitment to writing and publishing books for young girls of color, advocating, and spending time with her family when she is not engaged in her work as an instructional coach.

Dr. Carol's goal is to help support underperforming school districts by fostering strategies to bridge the gaps between the community and the school using restorative-based practices. Her unique ability to bridge these gaps brings hope and optimism to the educational landscape. Once a relationship has been established between the school and the community, she can help them promote equity-based systems and practices. The entire system begins to thrive when every student has the community's support and access to high-quality resources they need.
