Before joining Teaching Lab, Karen was the Elementary Math Director at KIPP New Jersey. In this role, she coached school leaders across three cities to build school-based math content expertise and leadership skills. Additionally, she led the STEM team for the network to design vertically aligned K-12 math frameworks, curricula, and assessments. Throughout her career, Karen has taught multiple grade levels and subject areas, including 3rd, 4th and 5th grade bilingual special education. She holds a B.A. in Psychology from Princeton University and an M.S. in Special Education from Hunter College.

Karen speaks Spanish fluently and enjoys dancing, traveling, and spending time with her family.
