Kathryn Holstlaw

Kathryn is a dynamic and dedicated professional with a wealth of experience in youth empowerment and program coordination. With a strong background as a Teen REACH Coordinator, STEM Director, Youth Care Worker, and Dual Status Youth Coordinator, she is committed to addressing the academic, social, and emotional needs of young people through innovative programming.

Kathryn’s work uniquely integrates STEM education with trauma-informed practices, fostering resilience and personal growth among youth. She believes in the transformative power of education and actively seeks to inspire young minds, particularly young girls, to pursue careers in STEM fields. Her collaboration with organizations such as Narrative 4, Techbridge Girls, and Marathon Kids has further enhanced youth engagement and learning opportunities. Through Narrative 4, Kathryn has facilitated storytelling initiatives that promote empathy and connection, while her efforts with Techbridge Girls focus on breaking down barriers and encouraging diversity in technology and engineering.

In addition to her work in STEM, Kathryn is passionate about promoting physical fitness and healthy lifestyles among youth through her involvement with Marathon Kids. She emphasizes the importance of wellness as a foundation for personal and academic success.

As a board member of the Illinois Afterschool Network, Kathryn advocates for out-of-school programs that provide critical support and enrichment for youth, ensuring they have access to safe and engaging environments outside of school hours. Her strong organizational and communication skills enable her to navigate complex systems effectively and advocate for youth interests.

Currently serving as a program coordinator in one of Illinois’ pilot programs with CASA and AOIC, Kathryn is dedicated to bridging systemic gaps and enhancing support for individual youth. She drives systemic change to create a more integrated and supportive community, serving as a vital link between the juvenile justice and child welfare systems. By coordinating a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) service model, she facilitates effective collaboration, information sharing, and comprehensive case planning for dual-status youth.

Kathryn’s passion for transforming lives and building a brighter future for all young people is evident in her work. She remains committed to empowering youth and fostering environments where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
