Before joining the Teaching Lab team, Maren worked for over a decade as an elementary educator, coach, and administrator in Brooklyn, New York. She has taught and coached grades K-4 and is a lover of all things literacy! The majority of her time teaching, Maren was a Special Educator in ICT settings; she is passionate about supporting all learners and fostering environments where students are empowered to take risks and see themselves as readers, writers, and thinkers. For the past two years, Maren supported D9 schools in K-2 Literacy. She completed her undergraduate studies at Northwestern University, where she studied Journalism and French, and graduate education studies were completed at Hunter College.

Maren enjoys reading for pleasure, time spent with family, traveling, and exploring NYC with her husband and two kids, Ava and Zach. Trying out new restaurants and taking advantage of the city are favorites!
