Roel is a Manila born, L.A. raised branded content professional. At Teaching Lab, he spearheads the creation, execution, and development of brand-focused content across various platforms, including our organization's website, video channels, podcast, social media, and external and internal communications..
In his past roles, Roel served as Creative Director at Under Armour’s brand creative department, where he helped launch NBA Champion Stephen Curry’s first signature shoe; managed Red Bull’s main brand website, leading a team of writers, content producers, photographers, and designers to create content for the entirety of the brand’s sports and culture categories; and produced content for TV shows like CSI, NCIS:LA, and The Big Bang Theory while working as editor at CBS.com.
Roel attended Long Beach City College before transferring to the University of California, Riverside where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. Roel is also a short story writer and his works of fiction can be read in publications like Tahoma Literary Review, Santa Ana River Review, and Dryland.
He now lives in Long Beach, CA with his wife and three children. He roots for all L.A.-based professional sports teams, and loves discovering new music; getting lost between the blank spaces found inside fiction and poetry; and transcending toward other worlds and eras offered through the magic of film and cinema.
