Zakia Kelly began as a middle school math and science teacher through the New York City Teaching Fellows program. Over time, she transitioned out of the classroom and into roles focused on facilitating and coaching. Her main goal is fostering a collaborative learning environment and providing support for fellow educators in their professional development. Zakia is dedicated to a student-centered approach in her work, aiming to challenge and change narratives that have historically marginalized certain groups of people. She prioritizes inclusivity and equity in her educational endeavors.
Outside of her professional life, Zakia finds grounding and balance through various activities such as tending to plants and enjoying quality time with her two little boys. Zakia Kelly is an advocate for progressive and inclusive education practices, focusing on empowering both educators and students while maintaining a strong connection to her personal interests and relationships.
