"You Really Did Change My Life": Adele to Her English Teacher

Written by Sarah Johnson

You probably saw the recent video of Adele bursting into tears when her beloved English teacher, Ms. McDonald, surprised her on stage. Adele said Ms. McDonald was "so bloody cool, so engaging and she really made us care and we knew that she cared about us..." and "she was so relatable and likable that I really looked forward to my English lessons.” In the fashion of truly inspiring educators, Ms. McDonald hugs Adele and says, "I'm so proud of you."

Do you remember a teacher that changed your life? One that made you feel so seen, loved and supported that you fell in love with a subject? One that instilled a lifelong love of learning or planted a seed of interest that grew and blossomed later in life?

The Energy to Continue to Change Lives

At Teaching Lab, we want every student to have access to life-changing teachers. We are also lucky enough to serve educators like Ms. McDonald every day. These incredible educators deserve our support and gratitude so they have the energy to continue to change lives.

We do this by advancing educational equity through teacher professional learning. As you consider supporting nonprofits on Giving Tuesday, I encourage you to consider Teaching Lab's mission — to shift the paradigm of teacher professional learning for educational equity.

Many of us have memories of how our favorite teacher helped us realize our potential or made us excited to learn. Our goal is to ensure every child across the country feels that same love, joy and affirmation from their teacher.

Support our vision to improve student learning through a reimagined education experience, designed by teachers for teachers. Join the movement.
